Seonghui Girls' High School
The Netflix series “All of Us Are Dead,” the story of students struggling to survive while trapped in a school where the zombie virus started received an enthusiastic response as evidenced by ranking first in the global chart right at its release. Tourists are continuing to visit Andong, where the school that was used as the main stage of the series is located. Let's enjoy Andong from Hahoe Village, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to Andong Braised Chicken, a specialty of Andong.
Much of the drama was filmed at the school because of the plot, which takes place in a high school where a zombie virus has spread. The place that became the background is Seonghui Girls' High School. An “All of Us Are Dead” banner is hung at the main gate, and a photo zone is also set up inside the school. You can see the road in front of the school, the school gate, and the bridge between the buildings from the series and take memorable photos.
Hahoe Village is where members of the venerable Pungsan Ryu family have lived for over 600 years. The traditional living culture and architectural style are well preserved to the extent that the entire village was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2010. The 600-year-old zelkova tree standing in the center of the village is mysterious and magnificent, as if it would appear in a fantasy movie. Every hour from 10AM to 4PM (except for noon to 1PM), there is a free guided tour for visitors’ understanding and enjoyment. Traditional weddings and ancestral rites are demonstrated, and many events such as seasonal customs and tea ceremonies take place all-year-round.
As the home of braised chicken, Andong has a braised chicken alley. Among many restaurants, this one is always crowded with customers since it appeared on the entertainment program “Baek Jong Won's Top 3 Chef King” and was certified as having the best taste. It's a basic sweet and salty braised chicken with plenty of soup. The well-seasoned glass noodles remain delicious up to the very end as they don't get soggy and maintain their firm texture. It is possible to have a hearty meal by adding rice to the soup to finish off the meal.
