Hyanghohaebyeon Beach

The beaches of Gangneung and Samcheok in Gangwon-do, where you can see the wide white sandy beach and the emerald-colored sea, are some of the most popular summer vacation spots in Korea. K-pop fans from all over the world are continuing to visit Hyanghohaebyeon Beach and Maengbanghaebyeon Beach, where BTS album jackets were filmed against the beautiful beach.

BTS “Spring Day” filming location

If you leave the pine forest campsite with dense pine trees behind and walk out onto the clean white sandy beach, the clear sea spreads out. Hyanghohaebyeon Beach, a small beach connected to Jumunjinhaebyeon Beach, has become a must-visit place in Gangneung as it became famous after BTS' album jacket shoot for “Spring Day.” The bus stop made for filming, which is not the actual stop, was demolished after filming, but it was rebuilt at the request of fans, becoming a famous photo spot. If you sit here and take a picture, the wavy sea becomes the background.

Maengbanghaebyeon Beach

This beach is also called “Myeongsasimni” because of the sandy fields that stretch for 10li (4km). It is a good place to relax and enjoy the sea with shallow and clear water at a depth of 1–2m.

An ocean-view cafe with delicious desserts

It is an ocean-view cafe with a beautiful view of Gallam Port and the clean sea of Samcheok. There are terrace seats facing the sea and plenty of rooftop seats. There are also several windows inside, so it is enough to enjoy a picture-like view of the sea from anywhere. Among the various bakery menus, Green Onion Scones and Mugwort Financier are popular because they are unique and delicious. If you go late, they tend to run out. The drinks are tasty as well as pretty, which is perfect for taking Instagram photos.
