With beautiful nature and historic sites, as far as one can see, Gyeongju is one of the most beloved tourist sites in Korea. No matter the season or the time of the year, Gyeongju’s scenery never disappoints, and its treasured scenery has lent its beauty to many romantic K-dramas. Here are some places in Gyeongju that will imbue your trip with the same magic.
A Moonlit Spot for Night Views in Gyeongju
This is the place where Se-gye (played by Seo Hyun-jin) headed to after her argument with Do-jae (played by Lee Min-ki) in "The Beauty Inside." Being a restoration of the palace used for banquets in the past, the scenery here is enough to make one forget about lover’s quarrels. Wolji Pond means "a moonlit pond," and just like its name, the pond creates a romantic scenery every night with the lights shining on the surface and the surrounding views.

An Astronomical Observatory with a Thousand-Year History
This place is where Bo-gyeom (played by Lee Hyun-woo) and Ji-ah (played by Kim Yi-kyung), two secretive characters at the heart of the mystery in "A Good Day to Be a Dog," meet each other. As one of the oldest astronomical observatories in the world, Cheomseongdae Observatory is such an iconic building that it was once engraved on coins. It is also close to royal tombs, flower fields, and walking trails as well.

An Old House in Harmony with Nature
Being at one with the lush mountain and clear waters of the valley, Dongnakdang House is the example of natural beauty that all hanok buildings aspire to be. In "Captivating the King," this building is featured as the place where the love between Lee In (played by Jo Jung-suk) and Hee-soo (played by Shin Se-kyung) begins to bud. Sit down on the maru (open floor space) and listen to the sound of the trees to become one with nature.

A Beautiful Forest Garden in the Thousand-Year Capital
This place featured in the show "Kang Deok-soon's Love History," where Deoksun (played by Kim So-hye) breaks down in tears after giving up on Seok-Sam (played by Oh Seung-yun) and returning to her hometown. It is home to many picturesque places, from walking trails adorned with flowering trees to the log bridge over the "forest of mirrors."
