The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization are launching the “Smile Campaign” together with eleven traditional markets nationwide. To ensure a memorable and convenient shopping experience, the organizations and the participating markets are making joint effort to provide four service improvements—fixed pricing, accepting card payments, cleanliness and hygiene management, and friendly services.
There are a total of eleven participating markets, including Mangwon Market and Gyeongdong Market in Seoul; Haeundae Market in Busan; Seomun Market in Daegu; Sinpo International Market in Incheon; Nammun Market in Suwon, Gyeonggi-do; Sokcho Tourism and Fisheries Market (Sokcho Central Market) in Gangwon State, Danyang Gugyeong Market in Chungcheongbuk-do; Jeonju Nambu Market in Jeonbuk State; Andong Gu Market (Old Andong Market) Association in Gyeongsangbuk-do; and Dongmun Traditional Market on Jeju Island.
Korea’s traditional markets are a popular tourist destination among many international travelers as a place for experiencing local lifestyle, food, and culture.
