Andong is the region with the most Confucian academies, known as “seowon,” of the Joseon period. Among the many seowon institutions, Dosanseowon Confucian Academy is the largest and the most well-known. The founder of Dosanseowon is Toegye Yi Hwang, whose portrait is on the Korean 1,000 won bill. Follow the footsteps of the Joseon-period scholars by walking on the grounds of Dosanseowon Confucian Academy, enjoying the scenic view from Gosanjeong Pavilion, and seeking solace by the river along Sunseong Susang-gil waterway.

Yekki Village (예끼마을)
A small village located by Andongho Lake. The village exhibits a friendly atmosphere with colorful murals and interesting sculptures that are placed throughout the neighborhood.

Sunseong Susang-gil Waterway (선성수상길)
A 1.1-kilometer floating bridge that connects Yekki Village to the nearby natural recreation forest. Have fun crossing the bridge as it slowly rocks side to side with each step.

Andong Gunja Village (Ocheon Historic Site) (안동 군자마을(오천유적지))
A 600-years-old historical village that comprises 20 old houses almost all of which are designated as cultural assets. This village was also a filming location for the drama “Alchemy of Souls (2022).”
