Located right in the middle of Jongno-gu, Ikseon-dong Hanok Street was a core district of Hanyang, the former name of Seoul and the capital of Joseon. For this reason, Ikseon-dong is where the aristocrats and the powerful mostly settled. Today’s Ikseon-dong is a popular date spot full of dainty restaurants, cafes, and shops. While you’re in the area, make sure to visit the Insadong Cultural Street, the number 1 destination for international visitors to Seoul, and the Seoul Museum of Craft Art (SeMoCA), a place where you can learn about the history of craft art in Korea.-

*Actor Lee Ga-eun (former member of After School)
Lee Ga-eun debuted as a member of After School, where she established her presence as the band’s main rapper and lead vocalist with her fundamentals and performance. Her dancing skills have also won over many fans across many performances. Her appearance in the 2018 Mnet showshowcased her chops as a longtime idol, further boosting her popularity. Since 2020, Lee has transitioned into acting, starting with the web film “Motelier” and played leading and supporting roles in “High Class (2021)” and “The Empire (2022)”. Lee recommends a special walking course that takes you to discover the everlasting charms of Seoul along the alleys of Ikseon-dong.
“Ikseon-dong has been a popular neighborhood in Korea since before Seoul became an attractive travel destination for many people, so you'll find hip restaurants, cafes, pubs, and small shops in quaint hanok buildings. It has many shops that bring together the latest trends with traditional hanok, so I often head to the neighborhood for light walks. The area around Ikseon-dong is also a great place to see what Seoul used to look like, thanks to places like the Insadong Cultural Street and Unhyeongung Palace. I especially recommend the SeMoCA. I picked up some woodcraft while filming a show, and if you find yourself on this road, I really recommend stopping by the museum!”

Tteulan Teahouse
This traditional teahouse is housed in a traditional hanok building. It serves ssanghwacha, a traditional medicinal herb tea made with Korean angelica, cinnamon, licorice, etc., and guests can sit down on seats on ondol floors, which are especially appealing in winter and early springtime. The terrace has many plants that add to the restful experience.
