Enjoy the specialties of the sea and the regional charms of Goseong, the eastern end of Korea.
Goseong in Gangwon-do is the northernmost region on the east coast and is famous as one of the places where the Military Demarcation Line runs through. Because of this, Goseong is home to numerous military facilities, including the Goseong DMZ Museum and the Unification Observation Tower, which showcases the tragedies of the Korean War. Goseong is also a great place to observe the unique ecosystem created by the DMZ. Hwajinpo Beach and Hwajinpo Lake are also quite famous. Introduction
* Ryeowook (Super Junior)
Super Junior, the boy band that began it all with “Sorry Sorry.” Ryeowook is the main vocalist of the group, whose high vocal range and distinctively sharp voice have established him as one of the most recognizable vocalists in Korea today. He is said to be an avid traveler and a gourmand, so we asked him about his most unforgettable trips. His choice? Goseong in Gangwon-do. He even gave us a recommendation for his favorite buckwheat noodles joint.
“Where should I go to have a great meal? That’s the question that I always ask myself during my travels. A good meal not only gives you energy to do other stuff, but also becomes an important part of your memory of that place. There’s a restaurant called Baekchon Makguksu in Goseong. It is a restaurant specializing in buckwheat noodles. Buckwheat is, in fact, eaten as a staple or made into noodles in Korea. Noodles made with buckwheat have a chewy texture and often pique the interest of international visitors. The restaurant is so famous that it often has people waiting for 2 to 3 hours. Once you get the buckwheat noodles served in a bowl of a cool and refreshing radish water kimchi soup, you’ll feel energized right away, especially in the hot summertime.”

This cafe has a great view of Munam Beach in Goseong. The large windows facing the sea lets visitors enjoy their cup while taking in the ocean view. A long, wide table in the center of the hall welcomes guests, and the terrace out back offers a great photo backdrop. The signature menu here is its Signature Cafe Latte, topped with a pretzel for a salty contrast.
