Mangwon Hangang Park, the refuge and sports park for Seoulites
1-kilometer wide on average and 494 kilometers in total length, the Hangang River flows through the heart of Seoul. Due to its considerably large rarely found in the middle of an urban city, the river offers many recreational perks, and the parks dotted along the river, collectively called “Hangang Park,” serve as a refuge and a popular picnic site for Seoulites. From spring to fall, the area sees many outdoor activities, so head down to the side of the river and enjoy chimaek (chicken & beer) and the cool river breeze. Another way to enjoy the benefits of Hangang Park is to rent a bike and ride along the tracks or take things slow and have a leisurely walk.

Punch
Singer-songwriter Punch, the “OST Goddess,” is well-known among fans of K-drama for her participation in many soundtracks, where she brings out the best of the show’s ambiance and emotions with her voice. As someone who delivers “aural rest” for many people, Punch chose Mangwon Hangang Park as the rest spot of her own. “The Hangang River is the scenery that one most frequently runs into in Seoul. Mangwon Hangang Park is particularly close to Hongik University Entrance, Hapjeong, and the Mangnidan Street areas, so it is great for planning a trip. People head to the Hangang River for different reasons, like enjoying the Korean soul food chimaek or exercising. I also like to visit the Hangang River when I feel down. The river has a way of healing just by being there: When you just sit there, looking at the river, you can feel your heart become calm as the river. Oh, don’t forget to pack insect repellent in summer. There’s a lot of mosquitoes there in the evening.”
Full of Mangwon-dong’s young and hip sensibilities, Always August Roasters
This cafe sits among tranquil residential buildings, so it is a great place to enjoy a cup of tea and some desserts in peace. The joint serves excellent coffee and desserts, which go even better together.
