One-day trip on Seoul’s busiest street, Myeongdong
Myeongdong is the bustling heart of Seoul and a neighborhood that never sleeps. As one of the most crowded and densely-populated districts in Korea, it is a favored tourist spot for visitors from around the world. There are plenty of shops to visit along the street and plenty of street foods to sample at Namdaemun Market’s Gourmand Alley. Take care not to get lost in Namdaemun Market, however: This market is as massive as the list of goods it handles. One can also opt to ride to the top of Namsan Mountain in a cable car to enjoy the view of Seoul. So without further ado, head to Myeongdong in the heart of Seoul to get everything from sightseeing to shopping, food, and the view in a single day.
(Note that at the end of the year, the nearby Shinsegae Department Store hosts a Christmas light event, so head there and make your wish on a massive Christmas tree.)

* PENTAGON
There are five virtues of K-pop groups: Vocals, dance, teamwork, character, and talent. PENTAGON is a boy band that pursues these five virtues to excellence. Their music video for “Shine (2018)” already exceeded 200 million views, while their albums were included on Billboard's “Social 50” chart in 2020 and made 10th place on Billboard Japan’s “Hot Albums” chart in 2021. All these point to the group’s talent and popularity being recognized around the world. Members of PENTAGON cite Myeongdong as their first pick for unforgettable tourist destinations in Seoul. After all, Myeongdong is like PENTAGON, in that both are beating hearts that cannot be missed. Let the heart of K-pop, PENTAGON, take you to the heart of Seoul at Myeongdong. “Myeongdong has a special place for all our members. Back when we were training for our debut, we bonded over our shared love for people-watching and snacking, so we often went to Myeongdong for walks. Whenever we go to Myeongdong, we find that Myeongdong has a unique sense of vitality that makes us feel as if we are on a trip to a faraway place. If you’re visiting Seoul for the first time, Myeongdong is sure to be a part of your itinerary. It’s quite close to Seoul Station, after all. Myeongdong is a big street with a lot of small shops, so you can find many opportunities for shopping and snacking in streetside food stalls. You can even branch out to the nearby Namdaemun Market or Namsan Mountain. In fact, you can take the cable car at Namsan Mountain and see the city from above.”
Myeongdong’s favorite for more than 60 years, Myeongdong Kyoja
Myeongdong Kyoja has a strong claim to being the most famous restaurant in the entirety of Myeongdong. It is a restaurant specializing in noodles, most famous for its noodle soup and mandu. Noodle soup, “kalguksu” in Korean, is a traditional dish made by slicing dough into long, thin strips. The best way to enjoy it is to eat it with Myeongdong Kyoja’s famous kimchi. Note that additional bowls of steamed rice can be ordered free of charge if you order noodle soup.
