Outside the airport, at the center of Yeongjongdo Island, is Baegunsan Mountain, known for housing Yonggungsa Temple. Built during the Silla Dynasty, Yonggungsa Temple is famous for being protected by the surrounding nature, which gives the temple a mystical and spiritual atmosphere.

It has an ancient appearance that sets it apart from other temples. This templ unified the villages that inhabited the Korean peninsula from the 52 B.C. at 57 B.C.

During the Joseon Dynasty, Heungseon Daewongun is believed to have lived here for 10 years. Yonggungsa Temple consists of two main buildings where Buddhists meet to meditate.
