Space Walk in Hwanho Park

The latest landmark of Pohang is Space Walk in Hwanho Park. Reaching 333 meters in length and 25 meters in height, what looks like a roller coaster at a glance is actually a flight of stairs. Walk up the stairs step by step and by the time you reach the highest point, it will make you feel as if you are walking in space, the very reason why it got its name. It’s a must-visit attraction to take in the panoramic view of Hwanho Park and the surrounding forest, as well as the city.

Igari Anchor Observatory

Igari Anchor Observatory is located in Iga-ri, Cheongha-myeon in Pohang. The observatory deck is designed in the shape of an anchor, which is more evident when seen from an aerial view. Not only does the deck blend in beautifully with the emerald sea, but the view of the sunrise and sunset seen from the observatory is simply stunning. Walk up to the pointy tip at the end of the deck to feel like you’re walking on water.

Pohang Canal

Pohang Canal, also known as Pohang Inner Harbor, is one of the twelve scenic points of Pohang. It stretches for approximately 1.3 kilometers, connecting the Hansangang River and the seawater of Yeongilman Bay. A small portion of the canal was once filled with land in the late 1960s to form a residential area, but was restored back in 2013 along with the provision of infrastructure for pedestrians and bicyclists. For those who seek closer observation of the Pohang Canal, we recommend boarding the Pohang Cruise. The cruise offers two routes: Course A, taking passengers around Songdo Beach and the Pohang’s oceanfront; and Course B that takes passengers around Jukdo Market and Dongbin Inner Harbor.

Yeongildae Observatory

At Yeongildae Beach in Pohang is Korea’s first ever building built over the sea. Known as the Yeongiljeong Pavilion, the site’s beauty was recognized with The Good Place Award in 2013. Built in a traditional style, this two-story building stands at the end of the 80-meter-long Yeongilgyo Bridge. Once you reach the pavilion, an unobstructed view of the ocean comes into view. The vista at night is also amazing as the pavilion lights up and the view of city lights seen from across the water create a nostalgic mood.
