Synopsis
The musical is a creation by Laurence Mark Wythe, the composer of the musical who also
took charge of the book, lyrics, and music for this production. Following its debut in the West End in 2006,
went on to win Best Musical at the 2009 Chicago Joseph Jefferson Awards. Since its Off-Broadway
production in 2011, the musical has been performed in various cities worldwide, including London, Tokyo, Chicago,
Melbourne, Vienna, Lisbon, Germany, and more. The show has captivated musical enthusiasts globally for over 17
years and is recognized as a quintessential romantic musical from the UK.
The musical
narrates the tale of two couples who find themselves on the cusp of major turning points in their lives. John
and Kat, one of the couples, are about to embark on the journey of marriage, while the other couple, Jack and
Catherine, are on the edge of divorce. The musical delves into the emotions of excitement and anxiety that arise
on the eve of these life-altering events, portraying the last night filled with anticipation and farewells as
they navigate new beginnings.
