  • “Our Beloved Summer” Filming Location Tour

    Seoul/Metropolitan Area

    Choong Ang High School

“Our Beloved Summer” is a young adult love story that made viewers feel the romance of youth and a realistic breakup story that anyone can relate to. From Bukchon Hanok Village, a hanok-dense area in Seoul, to Choong Ang High School, the high school the two main characters attended together, and Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, where they used to date, let's go to places in the drama that remind you of sweet episodes.

    Gamgodang-gil, Bukchon Hanok Village

A place filled with memories of Choi Ung and Kook Yeon-soo

This is the road that appeared in the last episode and the flashback scene where Choi Ung (played by Choi Woo-sik) and Kook Yeon-soo (played by Kim Da-mi) got drunk. Behind the Seoul Museum of Craft Art in Bukchon Hanok Village, it extends for about 440 meters from Poongmoon Girls' High School to Jeongdok Library. There are many pretty coffee shops and galleries along the road, and a craft market is opened to offer plenty of things to look around. The alley where Kook Yeon-soo walked with the drunken Choi Ung on her back is Yunboseon-gil in the middle of Gamgodang-gil. It stretches along the hill between narrow tiled walls and stone walls, giving off a unique atmosphere.

    Choong Ang High School

A place filled with 19-year-olds’ memories

This is the high school where Choi Ung and Kook Yeon-soo attended together. Established in 1908, it is a historic school that has experienced modern Korean history. The history can be felt everywhere, such as the June 10 Independence Movement Monument next to the library and the 500-year-old ginkgo tree at the March First Independence Movement Memorial Hall to the northeast of the campus. The ivy climbing the bricks, green grass, and antique buildings are so beautiful that they often appear in various dramas. It is open to the public only on weekends.

    Hwaseong Fortress, Suwon

Fortress listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site

The houses of Kook Yeon-soo and Choi Ung and the neighborhood where the two dated are located near Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon. As it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is well worth taking your time and looking around slowly. If you walk along the trail atop the fortress wall and climb Seojangdae Command Post, you can see the entire scenery of the fortress and downtown Suwon. Go to Hwahongmun Gate to see Banghwasuryujeong Pavilion with the well-known Yongyeon (Pond) past Yeonmudae, where soldiers used to train in the past. In summer, a stream flows under Hwahongmun Gate, boasting a wonderful scenery.

    Suwon Jidong Mural Village

A photo in front of Kook Yeon-soo's house

Jidong Mural Village is a neighborhood with many winding alleys where Kook Yeon-soo lived. Murals with seven themes are painted on the six-kilometer-long road, so just walking along the walls is as fun as a treasure hunt. As you walk, you will see a familiar green gate next to Jidong Supermarket, which was the house of Kook Yeon-soo in the drama. As the rainbow mural located on the opposite side often appeared in the drama, there are many fans who take photos here.

    Siheung Oido Museum

The heart-throbbing scene from the drama

Oido, an island that was isolated from the mainland until 100 years ago, became inland with the creation of the Gunja Saltern and the construction of the Sihwa Embankment. It is the largest shell mound historic site on the west coast, and various Neolithic artifacts have been excavated, leading to the entire island being designated as a Historic Site. Inside the museum, which records the history of Oido, there are various interesting experiences and exhibitions that give a glimpse of life in the Neolithic Age. Outside the building, there is an overpass with many pillars where Kook Yeon-soo gave Choi Ung a back hug. The exact spot has a sticker that reads “Our Beloved Summer,” so it's good to take a commemorative photo.

    Hwaseong SODA Art Museum

The first municipal art museum in Hwaseong

As the first municipal art museum in Hwaseong, a large sauna building that had been abandoned for a long time after closing was renovated into an art museum. It was featured in the drama as a place where Choi Ung's exhibition was held. Although the scale is not large, the space composition is efficient, including an outdoor gallery, an exhibition hall, a rooftop exhibition hall, a café, and a souvenir shop. It is convenient to purchase a combo ticket that combines exhibition viewing and drinks.

    Osan Dolmen Park

The place where Choi Ung and Kook Yeon-soo first kissed

It is a park with nine table-style dolmens scattered around. This is the place where the two main characters in school uniform sat in a small cabin that says “Forest Library.” The scene where the two kissed for the first time while avoiding the rain was filmed here. As the name suggests, it is a place where anyone can rest and read a book in the metasequoia forest. If you sit in the same spot and take a picture, you can get a nice photo. In addition, each zone has a lot of things to see, such as performance halls, sculptures, rose gardens, and wetlands, which are loved by citizens.
