Dongchon Recreation Area, located by the Geumhogang River in the Dong-gu District, is the first recreation area in Daegu, offering a variety of things to do. Sunrise Hill, located in the Dongchon Recreation Area, offers a view of the Geumhogang River and Palgongsan Mountain in the distance. The Sunrise Bridge connects the western and eastern sides of the Geumhogang River. You can find many people enjoying walks or riding their bicycles or scooters there. Ansim Creation Valley’s Lotus Complex is a popular summertime tourist site. The largest lotus root cultivation complex in Korea was transformed into a lotus complex, creating this ecological, cultural, and healing space. Walk the 13km-long decked trail, and let your body and mind be healed in nature. The nearby Rail Cafe in the Geumgang Station Plaza has also risen in popularity. Donghwasa Temple, located to the south of Palgongsan Mountain, is the most popular Buddhist temple in the Daegu region. It has 1,500 years of history, even being listed in Samguk Yusa (Memorabilia of the Three Kingdoms) as the largest Buddhist temple back then.
“ST. GEUNDAE BAKERY” is one of the most famous bakeries in Daegu. This place serves buns filled with handmade red bean paste, made every day without any preservatives. The bakery also offers a variety of bread and beverages in its café. Popular breads include red bean buns with custard cream, red bean, green tea, strawberry, and cream, as well as black sesame bread, biscuit sandwich, and mugwort mammoth bread.
