2026 World Island Exhibition Yeosu Korea: A Special Journey to 365 Islands

Set against the scenic coast of Yeosu, one of Korea’s leading maritime cities, the 2026 Yeosu World Island Exhibition will be the first of its kind dedicated to islands. Running from September 5 to November 4, 2026, the exhibition carries the theme “Islands: Connecting the Ocean and the Future” and presents a diverse lineup of experiences, from cutting-edge exhibitions and performances showcasing island cultures around the world to immersive stay programs on the islands themselves.

📍Point 1. Explore the Future of Islands through Media Art and Advanced Technology​

At the main venue, the heart of the event, eight exhibition halls invite visitors to experience future-forward technologies through all five senses.

• - Landmark “Theme Islands”: A striking fusion of media tunnels, large-scale installations, and vibrant LED media façades creates an immersive visual spectacle.
• - Future marine technology zone: Encounter marine ecosystems through a digital aquarium and explore next-generation innovations such as urban air mobility and hydrogen-powered vessels.
• - Global and Korean island theme zones: Iconic islands including Dokdo and Cheongsando Island, alongside world-famous destinations like Easter Island and Maldives, are recreated through installations, offering a journey across the world’s islands in one place.

📍Point 2. A Global Festival Where K-Content Meets Island Cultures​

Throughout the exhibition, a total of 133 performances will take place across the main and special stages, blending global cultures with Korea’s artistic trends.

• - K-musical inspired by Korean storytelling: The opening performance features an original musical based on the mermaid legend “Sinjikki” from Geomundo Island.
• - Diverse themed performances: From K-pop concerts and trot performances to “Island Friends Day,” where performance troupes from 15 countries including Greece and Peru present traditional dances and cultural showcases, the program offers something for every audience.

📍Point 3. Eat, Sleep, and Get Refreshed on the Islands: A Wellness Journey​

At the sub-venues of Gaedo and Geumodo Islands, visitors can go beyond sightseeing and experience the islands’ natural beauty and local lifestyles in depth.

• - Healing retreat on Gaedo Island: Enjoy a nature-centered wellness getaway with activities such as island camping, yoga, and Pilates.
• - Bireong-gil hiking on Geumodo Island: Walk along the coastal cliffs of Bireong-gil Trail through a stamp tour, and join a local food tour to sample the flavors of island village cuisine.
