Tips for Visiting K-Palaces Loved by BTS!

Visitors to the national heritage sites, including the royal palaces, continue to increase thanks to BTS' concert in Gwanghwamun and the expansion of Culture Day, which offers extended operating hours for national and public cultural facilities. Accordingly, basic visitor guidelines are provided to preserve the value of national heritages and ensure that all visitors can enjoy Korea’s heritages in a safe and pleasant manner.

First, the entire premises of national heritage sites are designated as a non-smoking area, and the possession of flammable materials is prohibited. Entering restricted areas and causing damages to the heritages are strictly prohibited. Also, visitors must follow the instructions of the on-site management staff.

To take advantage of the free admission benefit for visitors wearing hanbok, visitors must adhere to the “Free Admission Guidelines for Hanbok Wearers.” Also, it is advised that the hanbok stays true to the dignity of traditional hanbok. Free admission may be restricted in cases of excessively modified modern-style hanbok, wearing only a jeogori with jeans, or wearing a T-shirt with hanbok lower garment.

Group visitors are advised to adjust their visit schedules to avoid crowded times and to follow their guide’s instructions, especially when moving as a group. Additionally, visitors are encouraged to keep the noise levels down while at the national heritage sites and be mindful of other viewers.
