Korea is such a fascinating travel destination. It has all the elements that can captivate travelers from the coasts in the east, west, and south with different landscapes to K-culture that has taken the world by storm and K-food that presents diverse tastes. What’s more, Korea is not a large country so it is convenient to travel from the city to a nearby mountain or coast. Surely, no matter the length of the trip, visitors are in for excitement and delight in many different aspects. Read on for travel suggestions based on trip length based on trip length, ranging from as short as a day up to as long as a month.
2 days or less
A trip around Seoul is the best option for visitors only spending a day or two in Korea. It takes approximately 40 to 50 minutes by Airport Railroad Express train to transport from Incheon International Airport to downtown Seoul. There are many attractions to see in the city but, for a two-day schedule, travelers are recommended a course that features Gyeongbokgung Palace, one of the most famous royal palaces in Korea; Myeong-dong, a popular shopping area; and Namsan Seoul Tower, a beautiful vista point of the city. For hallyu fans of K-pop or K-dramas, try adding related spots to the travel plan.
3-5 days
For trips up to three days, stay in Seoul or add a famous attraction just outside Seoul such as Nami Island to the travel plan. For trips up to five days, try a bit further and add Gangwon State or Busan. Gangneung and Sokcho in Gangwon State and Busan are all cities by the sea so these destinations are perfect for travelers in the summer. For travelers in the fall or winter, add famous fall foliage viewing spots or ski resorts in Gangwon State to the itinerary. For visitors interested in history and culture, travel to the historic city of Gyeongju.
6-10 days
For visitors looking to stay in one region, try limiting the trip to two areas and focus on their various attractions. Depending on your areas of interest, try taking classes for Korean, K-pop, or K-food cooking. Or add Korea’s popular getaway, Jeju Island to the itinerary. With convenient access from various cities by air, Jeju Island is one of the most recommended travel destinations full of beautiful nature, diverse attractions, leisure activities, and convenient and exciting shopping spots.
2 weeks up to a month
Visitors traveling Korea for longer periods of time will definitely be able to properly and deeply experience the charms of Korea. How about picking a specific region to live like a local for a month? Korea has a well-established road network and public transportation system, which allows for convenient travel across the entire country via rental car, domestic flights, trains, or buses. The west and southern coasts are also dotted with small but beautiful islands. So we recommend visitors with flexible schedules try a trip to some of these islands to make special memories.
