Healing Forest Trails to Walk along the Sound of Nature

Samcheokwalgi Healing Forest welcomed its first visitors in July 2020 in the red pine habitat of Hwangjangsan Mountain. The red pine habitat is a beautiful coniferous forest with more than 1,000 red pine trees that lived for over 70 years and measure 70 cm in diameter. There is also a birch forest beyond the ridges. The healing forest is a place where you can experience the energy of the evergreen forest, with forest healing activities designed to strengthen your immune system.
The activity space, called Healing Forest Trail, has 16 routes. The routes are divided into three categories from low-difficulty trails that you can easily complete, to high-difficulty trails that require dedicated efforts. The high-difficulty routes include Yongoreum Trail, Tteodeumtteutgae Trail, and Baekdusong Trail. The medium-difficulty routes are Haneulbaram Trail, Solbaram Trail, Haengboka Trail, Daetjaeyet Trail, Mullebanga Trail, Cheongryong Trail, Baegugeumgwan Trail, and Yeonggyeong Trail. The low-difficulty routes, which are easily accessible to anyone, include Eumion Trail, Punggyeongsori Trail, Sasaegui Trail, Mulsori Trail, and Jungyeongyet Trail. All routes run along a cool valley, so you can walk while listening to the peaceful sound from the stream. When you walk along, the sound of your footsteps and leaves rustling in the wind will make all your worries disappear from your heart. It is the most “natural” way to heal the body and mind.

    Disconnect, Heal, and Revitalize

Now that you have forgotten your worries and relaxed your mind naturally, it is time to tidy up your mind. A wide range healing programs are available to calm your mind, look into your inner self, and relieve stress. The healing programs, provided under three disparate themes, are led by professional healing instructors. “The World of Disconnection” provides emotional and psychological stability, and involves disconnecting from and letting yourself go from daily life, opening the five senses, participating in forest activities, exploring forest trails, and making and floating leaf boats on stepping stones. “Inner World” offers a process of introspection through contemplation. Try calming your mind with a singing bowl, communing with nature through wood burning, and meditating. “Lively World” includes stepping on the “laughter stepping stones” as well as getting rid of worries and relieving stress while enjoying the Samhyang therapy with foot baths, heat, and tea ceremonies.
After walking through the forest, you can lie down on a bench for a while and meditate while listening to the sound of nature, play the singing bowl in the tree house, fill a boat with your worries and send it down the valley stream, and enjoy a tea ceremony and foot bath at the Healing Center. You will find that the two hours of the program had passed in an instant.
