After the heat of summer, the cool air of fall brings a burst of color to the trees throughout Korea. This year’s first foliage will begin at Seoraksan Mountain on September 30, followed by Jirisan Mountain on October 13, Hallasan Mountain in Jeju on October 14, and Bukhansan Mountain on October 17, with peak foliage expected throughout the country from late October through early November. Seoraksan Mountain and Jirisan Mountain will reach their peak on October 23, Hallasan Mountain in Jeju on October 30, Bukhansan Mountain on November 4, and Naejangsan Mountain on November 11.
Popular fall foliage attractions in Seoul include Gyeongbokgung Palace, Seoul Forest, Olympic Park, and Seokchonhosu Lake. The golden ginkgo leaves of Deoksugung Palace’s Stone Wall Path and Myeongnyundang Lecture Hall of Sungkyunkwan University are also outstanding. Famous fall foliage attractions outside of Seoul include Hwadam Botanic Garden, Nami Island, and The Garden of Morning Calm.
Other popular attractions for beautiful fall foliage include Bobaljae Pass in Danyang, the Ginkgo Forest in Hongcheon, Jangtaesan Mountain in Daejeon, Baegyangsa Temple in Jangseong, Metasequoia-lined Road in Damyang, and Bulguksa Temple in Gyeongju.
