  Gangnam Severance Hospital, a part of Yonsei University Health System (YUHS), was founded in 1983 in Gangnam, Seoul. Since then, we have been leading the region’s healthcare development with a world-class medical system. We operate four specialized hospitals, including Cancer, Spine, Heart/Brain/Vascular, and Dental Hospitals, with 47 medical departments. These special hospitals have earned patients’ trust by providing high standards of care and treatment in their respective fields.

  Opened in May 1983 June 1995: Introduced a new laparoscopic laminectomy and performed a spinal surgery through the abdomen December 1996: Successfully performed the first balloon angioplasty using ultrasound angiography in Korea April 1997: Succeeded in a surgery using AESOP, Korea's first voice recognition robot arm February 2023: Succeeded in Korea's first intestinal perforation surgery for an infant with extremely low weight (630g) May 2007: Installed Da Vinci S surgical robot for the first time in Asia June 2009: Opened the largest number of RI treatment rooms among Korean university hospitals May 2014: Performed the radiation cancer treatment using VERSA HD APEX for the first time in Asia August 2014: Performed Korea's first intraoperative radiation treatment (IORT) for breast cancer June 2022: Introduced the first hybrid stent graft E-vita NEO for the first time in Korea March 2024: Ranked 6th in Korea in the 'World's Best Hospitals' by U.S. Newsweek magazine
