From the Residence Mumum in forty-five minutes on metro we arrive to one of the tourist spots most famous in South Korea: Gamcheon Culture Village.

Known as the “Machu Pichu from South Korea”, the pictures of this district can be seen frequently when we are looking for tourist information about the country and it is worthy! The colorful and the art expositions inside of this village attracts everybody.

This place was born in the decade of the fifties to refuge Korean War victims. It was a marginal zone where refugees from the Korean War built their own homes on hill with the materials they found. Margination was terrible, so in the year two thousand nine, the Korean government carried out an urban regeneration project in which students and artists could show their artistic talent.

Nowadays, this district is a place where you can find food, coffee or tea, souvenirs and clothes, etc. Even there are rental places of hanboks –traditional Korea clothes- and, of course, perfect places to take a lot of photos. This village is full of art and culture.

However, the most interesting part of this area is the colorful houses and the narrow streets that climb the mountain. The most common houses have one or two floors with the traditional Korean construction style - you can see these style through the open doors - and color-painted outside walls.

Now, you are ready to walk through its streets. Just do not forget to save space in your camera or mobile phone for all the pictures you will take.

Just twenty minutes from the Residence Mumum, we can reach one of the best places to taste several delicious and cheap street foods. In the district of Nampong-dong, we can find many nocturn markets and there were a lot of mini-restaurants. The portion of the food they sell is not too much, so it is a good opportunity to try a bit of all different kind of food. The Bupyeong Kkangtong Market is one of the most famous place in this area, especially at night. The Bupyeong Kkangtong Market and its surroundings are the place where you can find street stands which sell the most variated food a for cheap price from 3,000 won.

At first, I went to Bupyeong Kkangtong Market I found all the day-shops closed and many stands (mini-restaurants) opened in the middle of the path. These stands sell all kinds of street food: Korean, Asian, Western or fusion and desserts. I tasted a few of them and they were quite delicious!

If you want to try some exotic dishes from Korea, I suggest you try kkeopbdegi. It is pork skin with hot sauce. The texture is somewhat strange, but it is ideal for spice lovers! If you want to have a total Korean experience, you need to try it with soju, one of the most popular alcoholic drinks in Korea. Other options are the fusion food. In the Bupyeong Kkantong Market, there are many different types of food. One of them is samgyeobsal - Korean grilled bacon meat - roll. This dish is a pork meat roll with vegetables inside.But, if you are looking for a simpler dish, you can find grilled shrimp, meat, roasted squid or French potatoes.

Later, I recommend that you walk around the nearby streets, where you can find more restaurants with street food like fried dishes, Korean hot dogs or gyeranbbang , one of the most typical foods to eat on the street. Many Koreans eat gyeranbbang as a snack when the weather gets cold. It consists of bread with eggs and bacon, or other ingredients.

When you are planning your travel and if you are looking for a place to feel comfortable in the middle of the city, Residence Mumum is your place. It is in one of the trending areas of Busan: Seomyeon. It is easy to travel to all the tourist spots in the city and its surroundings.

In less than an hour by subway you can arrive to Gamcheon Culture Village, Gwangalli Beach, Bupyeong Kkangtong Market and Jagalchi Market. If you prefer not to spend too much time in the public transportation, around Residence Mumum you can find many shops and restaurants where you can feel like a Korean, buying the trendiest clothes, going to different clubs or eating a Korean barbeque.

In addition, although the Residence is in the most popular district, you can enjoy your time relaxing inside the silence of the hotel in your private room or in the common area. Since you enter the glass doors in the entrance, you can feel the relaxing environment of Residence Mumum. You will find a beautiful waiting area in the lobby where you can read tourist information or other brochures specially designed for people who do not speak Korean. The brochures suggest basic words and expressions in Korean. It is a very useful information for foreigners. Don’t miss that before entering in your room! The reception staff will help you to make the check-in process as easy as possible in English and then, you will be ready to go to your new home for a few hours… or days.
