In Korea, cultural heritage that has no tangible form but has an important cultural significance, such as traditional dance, local festival, etc., is called “intangible cultural heritage,” and artisans with such skills and techniques are designated as human cultural assets. The National Intangible Heritage Center is an administrative complex devoted to archiving, preserving, and communicating Korean intangible cultural heritage. Visitors can get a firsthand look at the exquisite artisanship through an array of works carefully handcrafted by Korean human cultural assets, such as natural dyed fabrics, gat (a kind of traditional Korean hat), bows, and more. It holds a permanent/special exhibition of traditional crafts made by living cultural assets as well as a video exhibition for other intangible cultural heritage such as dance, music, and traditional craftsmanship. Located in close proximity to Jeonju Hanok Village, it is a perfect destination for you to get the most of your trip to Jeonju.
