Traditional Korean culture that is close to nature, song, and dance is referred to as Pungryu. Damyang is a city of bamboo that is proud of its Pungryu culture of art appreciation. The Damyang Juknokwon looks fortified from the outside but is empty inside, full of dense groves of tall bamboo that grow straight up. Compared to other types of trees, bamboo generates significant levels of negative ions. A leisurely walk through the 2.4 km of path takes approximately one hour and lifts the spirits. In summer, it is a special experience to hear the sound of the bamboo leaves rustling as the wind chases away the heat.
