Korea government has extended the protective measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 coming in from China. With exceptions to government officials, important business purposes, and urgent humanitarian reasons, all short-term visit visas will be restricted until February 28, 2023. The date is flexible as the visa restriction can be lifted if the COVID-19 situation gets better sooner.
Until the end of February, all visitors entering from China, Hong Kong, and Macau must be tested for COVID-19 before departure. Visitors require a negative result from either a COVID-19 PCR Test taken within 48 hours of departure or a COVID-19 rapid antigen test (RAT) taken within 24 hours of departure. Visitors are also required to take a COVID-19 PCR Test within one day of entrance. Above requirements apply to anyone who has stayed in or visited China in the past 7 days before coming to Korea. Short-term visitors from China must immediately take a PCR test upon arrival and wait for the result at a separate space. Returning South Korean citizens and long-term stay visitors entering from China must take the test within one day of entry and wait for the result at their residence.
In case of positive results, short-term visitors will be administered by temporary housing facilities located in different cities and provinces, while those who tested positive upon airport entry will be administered at temporary quarantine facilities.
