    9.81 PARK

After spending a relaxing night in Artstay Seogwipo Harbour I headed to 981 park. This is one of the newest attractions of Jeju Island and it is pretty cool. 981 park is the first racing course which uses gravity as the only source of power. The park is located in the country side of Jeju and the views and scenery are just stunning. Upon arrival you have to pick how many times you want to do the course and which course you want to take. There are different tracks, with some being more difficult than the others. After paying and picking your course, you receive a wrist band and are told to download an app. The wrist band is to check in and track your speed.

    Racing Course

The people working there are very friendly and speak English quite well, so they will guide you and explain all the rules clearly. Get in the little cart, check in and off you go. My maximum speed was 25 km/h, which is actually pretty slow. The fastest person in my team was driving 39 km/h. I finished the track in 1m45s while my friend finished in 1m05s.

    End of track

After you arrive at the bottom of the track, the car will drive back to the garage by itself so you can just enjoy the ride and are allowed to take out your phone and make pictures. The whole experience is pretty cool and the infrastructure is very organized. You can even download your video from your race through their app.

    Jeju herb dongsan

After finishing my racing experience I headed back to Seogwipo city for lunch and then made my way on the hunt for some pretty pink muhly.

    Muhly Hill

Pink grass is very popular in Korea. In Herb Dongsan Garden there is a muhly festival going on till end of November. The garden itself is really beautiful and there are many events going on all year around. The pink muhly patch is located on a small hill surrounding a white church. Very pretty.

    Pink Muhly Herb Park

Entrance tickets to the park are 12 000 krw and the park can easily be reached by public transport as there is a bus stop just in front of the park. I arrived at the park around 4 PM and spent around 1h30 there. The herb garden has over 150 types of herbs and is the perfect place to come and relax. Especially for people from the busy city. If you want, you can even sign up for some wellness programs.

    Traveler's Room :
A comfortable night in the Hawaii
    of Korea

The comfortable bedroom with two beds.

I checked in at Artstay Seogwipo Harbour on my 5th day in Jeju Island. The previous days I’ve also stayed in hotels in the Seogwipo area, but this hotel was the closest to the city center and also the cheapest hotel I stayed at so far. So I was very curious about the comfort and quality of the rooms. To my surprise the rooms were very comfortable and looked brand new. The rooms hardly had any wear or tear, so they must have redone the place recently. I arrived at the hotel at 6 PM and didn’t leave until the next morning. I spent the evening doing some work in the room and went to bed early.

    Desk

The room was quite comfy and I was able to really focus on my work without getting distracted. In the morning I took a shower and headed down to breakfast. As I didn’t pay for breakfast in advance I had to pay a bit extra(17 000 krw). But that was ok. I had access to the whole buffet and it was huge. Of course there were the typical Korean foods but there was also a lot of fruit, yoghurt, toast and bread. I really enjoyed the buffet and almost spent a full hour slowly having breakfast. The hotel also has a gym and sauna which can be used by the guest for a small fee.

    Bathroom

The hotel is located on the main street of Seogwipo and is very easily accessible by car. The place is surround by restaurants, small shops and the Seogwipo food street; which is just a couple of minutes away from the hotel. The closest tourist attraction to the hotel is one of the Seogwipo waterfalls. Jeongbang Waterfalls are just a 5-minute walk away from the hotel and is a great spot to visit just after having breakfast. Next time I visit Seogwipo, I’ll definitely stay again at Artstay. The hotel was comfortable and it’s a great price too.

    Korea Travel Qrator's Tip

Breakfast in the hotel is quite nice. If you don’t want to have a full breakfast you can just get a cup of coffee and relax in the lounge before heading out and starting the day.
