Named after Solgeo, a legendary painter of the Silla Period, Solgeo Art Museum is located in a tranquil lakeside near Gyeongju Expo Grand Park. Its opening, designed by architect Seung Hyo-sang in 2015, was initiated by the promise of Park Dae-sung (pen name: Sosan), master of Korean painting, to donate all of his works to the museum. In perfect harmony with the natural environment surrounding the building, the museum itself looks like a giant piece of art. Among other Park’s iconic works ooze powerful energy that can overwhelm viewers. In Exhibition Hall 3, The Window Where You Become A Part of Landscape is a popular spot to have a photoshoot, as it looks like a picture frame showing the trees and lake beyond the rectangular window glass.
