    Daehan Dawon Tea Plantation

Entrance of Daehan Dawon Tea Plantation.

The Cedar Road at Daehan Dawon Tea Plantation.

Taking an intercity bus from Seoul to Boseong was not that complicated, there is a bus from Seoul Central City Terminal at 15:10, it is the only bus directly to Boseong from Seoul, so if you want to arrive earlier the next option is going to Suncheon, and from there get a bus bounded to Boseong, there is a bus every 30 minutes. As someone who doesn’t speak Korean there’ll be no problems because both terminals are equipped with ticket vending machines with English translation, so all the process went smooth without worries.

To get to the Daehan Dawon Tea Plantation is easy, you can go by taxi with a fare of around 13,000won, or by bus that takes around 30min to arrive, the buses that goes from the bus terminal to the tea plantation are: 70, 70-3, 71-2, 71-8. Once you get off the bus you just have to walk straight, you will soon face the ticket office, and after you will walk through the Cedar Road. Finishing the Cedar Road, you will find a souvenir shop, an ice cream shop, a traditional Korean restaurant and a teahouse. In the Ice cream shop, you can try the green tea ice cream that is delicious! Also, in the traditional Korean restaurant, all the ramen are made from green tea, and the dishes have green tea added making it a unique experience!

Walking up the hills of the tea farm is such a nice view, perfect place to take photos and see the beautifulness of the nature! Additionally, you can spot the filming location of many different films and dramas.

Tea Museum of Korea, Yulpo Beach

Entrance of Tea Museum of Korea.

After my visit to the Daehan Dawon Tea Plantation, I went to Korean Tea Museum; it’s just a 10min walking distance from the tea plantation. The museum is the biggest of its kind, and you can understand and have knowledge of the history of all teas on the Korean peninsula, there are 5 floors filled with history, you can also understand the processes of making tea, the different types of tea and why Boseong teas are unique. On the last floor you can have a panoramic view of the surrounding including the tea plantation, it’s really worth the visit!

After going exiting the museum you can visit the souvenir shop where you can buy the traditional Boseong green tea with a good price.

    A view of Yulpo Beach.

    Sunset at Yulpo Beach.

After visiting the Korean Tea Museum, I went to the Yulpo Beach, to arrive there you can go by bus that takes around 10 minutes to arrive, the buses you can take are: 70, 70-1, 70-2, 70-3, 70-4 and 70-5, the buses arrives around every 30 minutes, so be careful to check the timetable not to lose time waiting for the bus. I arrived at the beach during the sunset, nobody was there aside from me, it was such an amazing sensation to see the ocean and feel the sand below my feet, and it was windy but strangely warm for an autumn day. The skies were clean. I could see the neighboring mountains and islands in the sea.

I really want to go there again during the summer, and have those sensorial sensations again!

    Traveler's Room :
    Your relaxing night in Boseong!

    Inside the Hanok house.

From the moment you enter the garden of Chunwoon Seo-ok you can feel the more than 150 years of history flowing in the air. It’s nice to see how everything was preserved during all those years. There we can see the statues, the beautiful garden filled with trees, flowers, it’s the best welcoming you can have. The traditional house has six rooms including the main building: Chodangchae, Songgoksil, Seokjeonsil, Hyobongsil, and Seoljusil. Songgok, Seokjeon, Hyobong, and Seoljusil are convenient because each of them has a private bathroom, so in these cold days you will not have any problems leaving the room to use the bathroom.

    The Hanok house from outside.

One particular aspect of the rooms, is that they use the traditional warm system called ondol, but it is not like the electronic ones in most Korean houses, the system they use in Chunwoon Seo-ok is traditional like 150 years ago, the wood is burned underneath the house bringing a real warmness and the smell of fresh wood, it’s really worth the experience!

From Chunwoon Seo-ok takes about 20 minutes by car to reach the entrance of Daehan Dawon Tea Plantation, 20 minutes to the Korea Tea Museum, and 45 minutes to Yulpo Beach. The strategic position of the house makes everything in Boseong close and easy to explore.

    Korea Travel Qrator's Tip

Beside the Hanok house there is a coffee shops ran by the owners of the accommodation. It is a quite unique and quaint place. The coffee shop has a large range of teas, coffees and cakes; it’s the best option to have breakfast there before heading to the next adventure!
