Synopsis
The play <Next Door> was adapted from the film of the same name, which garnered significant attention and received two awards at the 26th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival. Following its success, the film was released on popular OTT platforms like Netflix and generated widespread public interest. It is a captivating work that seamlessly blends elements of thriller and comedy, capturing both the shocking event of a murder and the everyday details of life in a single-room apartment complex, particularly that of a student. The comedy aspect of the play unfolds with abundant laughter, courtesy of the main character, a 5th-year police officer exam preparation student, as they investigate and deduce the murder case that occurred in the remarkably mundane and cramped environment of a single-room apartment. Furthermore, through its lifelike comedy that meticulously captures everyday details and addresses realistic concerns such as "thin wall noise" and "job seekers," this work effectively evokes empathy from the audience.
