Best 3 Places to Experience Traditional Culture & Luxury Trail Paths

Gimpo International Airport / Haeden Museum (Ganghwa-gun, Incheon)

A multipurpose arts and culture space that opened in 2013, Haeden Museum operates exhibitions, hosts performances, and runs education programs. Based on Korean architect Bae Dae-yong’s design, the museum utilized the beautiful natural scenery of Ganghwado Island and was later selected as one of the Best 7 Architectural Projects of the Year in 2013 by the Korean Institute of Architects. Since it opened, the museum has made art more accessible to the public and allowed people to peacefully relax while basking in some unforgettable culture. Works by world-renowned artists such as Picasso, Chagall, and Francis Bacon, as well as works by famous Korean artists such as Nam June Paik, Chang Ucchin, Park Seobo, and Lee Kangso, are on display. The outdoor exhibition area around the Mirror Garden is also used as a venue for weddings and performances, including musicals and concerts.

Yangyang International Airport/ Bauzium Sculpture Museum (Goseong-gun, Gangwon-do)

In 2015, Bauzium opened on a 23,000 m2 site as a multipurpose cultural space specializing in sculpture. Korean modern and contemporary sculptures are on display against a backdrop of low-rise architecture that was designed while keeping in mind both the panoramic view of Seoraksan Mountain and the rough walls built considering the museum’s sculptures. Bauzium is especially well known for capturing the undeniable harmony between nature, architecture, and sculpture through the many layers of stone walls surrounding the area. Outside, a café and five themed gardens with different characteristics allow visitors to enjoy a comfortable walk as they take in the surrounding nature and sculptures.
