  • A Wellness Stay in a Refuge Shaped by Jeju’s Land, Sea, and Wind

In March 2023, the first JW Marriott resort in Korea opened on a coastal cliff overlooking Beomseom Island in Seogwipo, Jeju. JW Marriott Jeju Resort & Spa was designed to capture the beauty of Jeju’s nature, created by renowned architect Bill Bensley. The resort’s color palette blends the yellow of Jeju’s canola flowers, the dark grey of Jeju basalt, and white, symbolizing the island’s winds.

JW Marriott Jeju Resort & Spa follows the core philosophies of JW Marriott: “Be Mindful & Present”, “Be Nourished”, “Be Together”, creating spaces where guests can enjoy complete and holistic rest for both mind and body, no matter when or where, during their stay.

    A Link that Awakens Togetherness

JW Marriott Jeju Resort & Spa’s activity programs embody the hotel’s ideal of being a “reconnector”, elevating connections between nature and people, people themselves, and people and culture. The Resort Activity Programs offer unique experiences exclusive to JW Marriott Jeju Resort & Spa. The “Jeju Morning Stroll” program, a 1-hour walk beginning on 08:00 every day, connects guests with the island’s nature along Jeju Olle Trail Course 7 to Oedolgae Sea Stack. This meditative walk, highlighted by the sound of the wind and waves crashing onto coastal cliffs, washes away worries and offers a breathtaking view of the blue sea. The program is free of charge for guests.

The “Classic Cocktail Making” program runs for 30 minutes starting at 17:30 daily. Participants learn to create classic cocktails with herbs from the JW Garden and Jeju fruits, guided by the head bartender of the seventh-floor restaurant, The Flying Hog. The program features a rotating selection of classic cocktails, such as Mojito on Mondays, Basil Smash on Tuesdays, and the Old Cuban Cocktail on Wednesdays, priced at KRW 10,000.

The “Bulmeong” (campfire watching) program at the JW Garden offers magical moments. Available for 2 hours from 20:00 every night, guests can sit under the starry Jeju sky with loved ones, sharing conversations and focusing on the present moment. Enjoy warm snacks and beverages, listen to old music from tapes, and relive fond memories in today’s moment. The program is free of charge for guests.

The Jeju Soybean Paste (Doenjang) Making Program takes place every Saturday at 16:00 for 30 minutes. Participants work with JW Marriott chefs to make soybean paste following traditional Jeju methods. The program covers intriguing processes such as preparing earthenware jars, submerging soybean blocks in salted water, and sealing the jars with a rope. The soybean paste is fermented at the resort, allowing guests to return in a year’s time to taste the sauce. The program fee is KRW 50,000.

    Sustainable Events with Jeju Locals

Once every month, JW Marriott Jeju Resort & Spa hosts the “JW RUN HAPPY” program in conjunction with the American running brand Brooks. This running class is held from 07:30 to about 09:00, with an expert runner to ensure the program is fun and safe for everyone. A notable feature of the program is its inclusion of local residents, who run alongside resort guests to celebrate the value of healthy morning exercise. Another monthly event that brings guests and locals together is the “JW Garden Market”, which offers special snacks prepared by the resort’s culinary staff and unique items from local sellers. These events foster a thoughtful celebration of coexistence and joy, connecting people and culture.
