Hwadam Botanical Garden is a 165,265-square-meter arboretum located 40 minutes outside of Seoul. With a name meaning "Sharing truths," the LG Evergreen Foundation opened Hwadam Botanical Garden to preserve the natural ecosystem for the benefit of the public. There is a wide diversity of trees, insects, and birds living in the forest, and is the location of the largest pine tree sanctuary in Korea. Seventeen themed gardens with approximately 4,000 types of plants are on display in the Moss Center, along with the Freshwater Fish Eco Center and Insect Eco Center. The 5.3 km walking trail is also accessible by monorail for children and elderly visitors to enjoy. There are sights to see during every season, like azaleas, royal azaleas, cherry blossom trees, and daffodils in spring; hydrangeas, water lilies, and lightning bugs in summer; fall foliage and chrysanthemum gardens in the fall. Reservations must be made in advance on the website.
