    Exciting activities

    Sea walking

    Sea walking

If you’re looking for a new way to explore the sea, then give sea walking a shot! Compared with traditional underwater exploration methods, sea walking requires less preparation time and special equipment. There is no need for a heavy oxygen tank or learning to use a snorkel; simply put on the underwater helmet and you’re ready to walk on the sea bottom. You can even feed fish depending on the season. Now that’s something not everyone can say they have done!

    Traveler’s voice

“I was a bit scared at first, but I got used to it after about a minute. I thought the helmet would be really heavy, but it was actually really easy to breathe in. It was a good experience feeding all the different fish.” – Jae Park

Tip) Getting over the fear of being underwater

Because you are completely submerged in the sea walking experience, it can be scary for many people. However, a guide is with you at all times to make sure you are safe. Your ears may feel blocked from the pressure. This is a completely natural occurrence, much like when flying on an airplane. Simply swallow, yawn or blow your nose and your ears will naturally pop.

    Parasailing

Parasailing (Right credit: Jeju Marine Leisure Park)

Parasailing can be classified as both a water sport and an air sport. Riders attach a special parasail, designed similar to a parachute, and are then pulled through the air by a boat. The unobstructed views of the sea and the strong breeze are just what the doctor ordered! For safety, all riders must wear a life jacket, and loose items such as cell phones, sunglasses, and hats must be stored separately beforehand.

    Traveler’s voice

“I felt like I was flying! I don’t have the words to describe it; you have to try it yourself. The sudden dip in the water at the end was quite a surprise!” – Jae Park

Tip) Making the most of your parasailing ride

Before departing, be sure to ask the staff to take pictures of you. You’ll get some amazing shots of you flying in the air, free as a bird! If you’re scared to go alone, you can go with a friend. The sail can hold up to three people at once. Parasailing is quite a popular activity for couples on their honeymoon.

    Yacht tour

    Yacht tour

If you’ve always wanted to try out the lifestyle of the rich and famous, be sure to try a yacht tour! This “summerhouse on the sea” operates year round, so you can enjoy a day of luxury any time. The yacht tour includes a formal dinner, as well as taking in the beautiful sights of Daepo Columnar Joint, Beomseom Island, Hyeongjeseom Island, Gapado Island, and Marado Island. You can also enjoy sea fishing and fresh hoe (raw fish).

    Traveler’s voice

“It was a great way to relax on such a hot day. I felt like I was royalty, drinking wine on a huge boat.” – Antonina Pak

    Jetboat

    Jetboat (Top credit: Pacific Resom)

For a roller coaster-like ride on the water, you have to ride a jetboat! Unlike other boats that just go in a generally straight line, jetboats take riders on twists and turns at a high speed, even completing a 360-degree circle on the water! It’s a great way to cool down while making your heart race. Just be sure to keep your eyes open so you can see Daepo Columnar Joint, Jungmun Saekdal Beach, and Hallasan Mountain before they whiz past.

    Traveler’s voice

“The jetboat goes so fast! I was really scared of the speed at first, but by the end of the ride, I was wishing it could go on longer.” – Antonina Pak

Tip) Magic hour on the jetboat

You can make your jetboat ride even better by picking the perfect time. The boat rides operate from 30 minutes after sunrise until 30 minutes after sunset. Simply pick the time you want to ride and enjoy the views.

    Big ball & Zorb

    Big ball

Jeju is the only place in Korea where you can enjoy the thrilling new sport of big ball and zorbing! Both use a huge inflatable ball to go down a hill, but that’s where the similarities end. In the big ball ride, the ball is partially filled with water, making it feel like a water slide. In zorbing, you will become one with the ball, strapped to the inside and rolled down a 170 meter-long hill; try not to get too dizzy! You can rent a waterproof camera for free to take a fun video on the big ball ride.

    Traveler’s voice

“I thought my soul was going to fly out! It was crazy tumbling around in the water and then just like that, it was over. I’m pretty sure I swallowed some water on the way down. I’d definitely recommend the big ball ride to people who like extreme sports. Up to four people can ride together, so I’m sure the more people you have, the more fun it is.” – Jae Park

Tip) Preparations for the big ball!

Because you will be rolling around in water, be sure to wear clothes that can get wet. It’s also a good idea to bring a towel and a change of clothes. Big Ball Land also rents out clothing and towels for a fee.

    Rail bike

    Rail bike

If you’ve already experienced riding on a rail bike, you’ll know just what to expect on the Jeju Rail Bike: beautiful views of the scenery! You’ll see natural monuments like Yongnunioreum and Darangswioreum Parasitic Cones, and Seongsan Ilchulbong Tuff Cone. The course also passes a field where a herd of over 100 cows can often be seen munching on the grass. The start and the end points of the course are downhill slopes, making it exciting throughout the ride!

    Traveler’s voice

“I liked being able to see Jeju while pedaling. It was quite interesting for me to see cows along the way. I think families would like to visit here because of the hydrangea park and zoo nearby.” – Antonina Pak

Tip) Fun before and after the rail bike

Jeju Rail Bike offers more than just the rail bike. You can also feed rabbits, turkey, and other animals at a small zoo. Enjoy a glass of hallabong or carrot juice at Café Highroad while looking out over the cattle. There is also an outdoor observation deck with fantastic views of Yongnunioreum and Darangswioreum Parasitic Cones. It’s the perfect spot to leave a photo memento of your trip.
