The Yeongnam Alps refers to nine 1,000-meter-tall mountains located in the southeastern region of the Korean Peninsula, spread across Ulsan, Milyang, Yangsan, Cheongdo, and Gyeongju. The Yeongnam Alps range is also home to Tongdosa Temple, Unmunsa Temple, Seoknamsa Temple, Pyochungsa Temple, and a number of other cultural heritage sites. Ganwoljae is a light trekking trail that beginners can ascend in just six hours, and it is a wonderful spot to catch the best views of the mountains and Ulju-gun. Befitting the majestic mountains, many interesting legends are passed down in the region.
