  • April is the time when warm spring breeze begins to blow in Korea.
With the spring playfully tickling our hearts, is it any wonder that we want to head off to a place to take in the beautiful sights?
If you’re feeling the same way, how about taking a trip to the seaside city of Yangyang,
where the blue waters of the East Sea glitter under the spring sun?

I had the opportunity to enjoy the feeling of spring at EL Hotel,
one of the Korea Quality-Certified accommodations
where you can enjoy the beautiful view of the East Sea round the clock.

EL Hotel’s modern silhouette of deep grey and ivory stands right in front of Jeongam Beach,
which offers the hotel an expansive “ocean view” of the emerald waters.
The indoor space is likewise clean and chic. From the moment one steps inside,
he or she feels as if being whisked away to an exotic hotel somewhere beyond the ocean.

The hotel’s rooftop restaurant serves a wide variety of foods
every morning with a side of Yangyang’s beautiful vista.
After the sunset, it becomes a pub that serves grilled foods and beers.

EL Hotel’s rooms, which come with either the mountain or the ocean view,
are divided into seven categories depending on the number of beds and the size of room:
Standard Double, Deluxe Double, Premier Suite, and Royal Suite.
Regardless of your choice, all rooms in EL Hotel include a plush & neat bed and elegant interior design.
The ocean view in particular is highly recommended as a great way to enjoy the view of spring in Yangyang.

A healing stay with gentle waves
    Deluxe Double

EL Hotel’s Deluxe Double greets its guests with a fresh fragrance.
Its neat interior design and warm lighting give it an air of grace.
An elegant sofa is positioned in a perfect spot in one corner of the room.

You can adjust the bed and lamp lights to create a warm atmosphere.
In particular, the lighting near the bed is well suited to the night view of Jeongam Beach beyond the window,
creating a restful, healing atmosphere that soothes the weary heart.

Capturing the seascape of Yangyang like a painting
    Royal Suite

The Royal Suite lives up to its name with a breathtaking view of the Jeongam Beach from the very first moment one enters the room.
Indeed, the view from the Royal Suite is one of the best ocean views that the EL Hotel has to offer.
In addition to its floor-to-ceiling windows, which offers the room a beautiful view,
the room is furnished with a bed, a sofa, and a large indoor space for your rest.

Amenities are also furnished with the same care shown in the room: bathrobe and hairdryer, neatly arranged; t
he welcome tea set for enjoying afternoon tea time with the scenery; and toiletries and aroma diffusers
with a pleasant fragrance to help you enjoy your rest to its fullest.

I spent the day taking a walk along the sea, taking in the endless blue waters and ended the day by falling asleep with the sea by my side at EL Hotel.
I can wholeheartedly recommend the Korea Quality-certified EL Hotel as a wonderful place to make special memories this spring season.

A new way to remember Yangyang:
A trekking trip on Haeparang Trail

Haeparang Trail is a walking trail that runs along the coastline in the Korean Peninsula.
Haeparang Trail 43, which connects Hajodae Beach with Susanhang Port,
takes one along a trip that covers the scenic spots of Yangyang, from the Surfyy Beach to the Hajodae Beach.

Once you’ve had your fill of the serenity of the sea at rest,
why not to explore the Haeparang Trail on foot to see the dynamic side of the sea in flux:
on some days, you might even see some surfers braving the wind and waves.

    Hajodae Beach

Hajodae Beach is one of the most storied scenic sites in Yangyang,
famous for its combination of unique rock formations, pine trees, and the blue sea.
The pine forest above the cliff surrounds a hexagonal pavilion built in 1955.
The name “Hajodae”, which can be found on the pavilion, is said to come from the surnames of Ha Ryun and Jo Jun,
two courtiers who played significant roles in the foundation of Joseon.

One can find a Dulle-gil Hiking Trail and an observation deck in the surrounding areas.
Don’t forget to check out the view of cherry blossoms in full bloom against the backdrop of the sea.

    Surfyy Beach

Surfyy Beach is a well-known hangout dedicated to surfers and their youthful energy,
as evident in its tropical design and quirky yellow signboard.
You can stop by to have a glass of cocktail on a sofa,
take a breather and watch the surfers, or even enjoy a quick dip.

Don’t miss the specialties of Yangyang
Spicy noodle soup and buckwheat noodles

Yangyang Traditional Market / Miga Son Kalguksu
    14, Nammun 3-gil, Yangyang-eup, Yangyang-gun, Gangwon-do (Miga Son Kalguksu)

This restaurant serves Jang Kalguksu, a spicy noodle soup flavored with chili paste, seafood and the gentle sweetness of potato.
Many visitors have been enthralled by its thick and savory soup. Miga Son Kalguksu is located at the entrance to the Yangyang Traditional Market,
so take the opportunity to explore the lively and authentic scenery of this fifth-day market after a meal.

    Yeonggwangjeong Memil Guksu
    446, Jinmi-ro, Ganghyeon-myeon, Yangyang-gun, Gangwon-do

This restaurant’s claim to fame is its Makguksu, a bowl of buckwheat noodles swimming in a cold radish water kimchi broth.
These noodles are best enjoyed with a helping of the restaurant’s other signature menus: moist and tender boiled pork slices and savory potato pancakes.
But even if you don’t opt to try these dishes, don’t miss out on the view of the mountains from a seat near the window.
