|Title||E-Land Named Developer of Jeju Theme Park|
20 Mar 2013
E-Land will develop a multi-functional theme park that combines Hallyu content with tourism.
E-Land announced, on March 20, that it had been named the developer of a provincial government-owned land in Aeweol on Jeju Island.
After founding a business entity named "Aeweol International Culture Complex," under the umbrella of its leisure and restaurant subsidiary E-Land Park, E-Land carried out the "The Oreum-Landmark Project."
The development project will be implemented in three stages from 2014 to 2022. The first stage of the project is slated to be completed by 2017. The first stage includes the construction of a K-Pop Town, which will accommodate a multi-entertainment park, a K-Pop concert hall and a Hallyu Star Street.
An international convention center and a star-chef restaurant will be established by 2019 and a foreigners-only noble village consisting of a leisure sports town and a condominium will be set up by 2022.
The company said that it has secured a total 1 million ㎡ of land, including last year’s purchased land.
E-Land will concentrate its capacities on nurturing a multi-functional tourism complex or a ‘theme park’ by selecting it as a new driving force.
“The reason we are trying to build a theme city in Jeju is that about 10 million VIP customers managed by our Chinese subsidiary had selected the island as their most favored domestic tourist destination. The company will build a theme park the size of which has never been seen before in Korea,” said a spokesperson of the company.
