Oriental medicine tours

These days the increasing pollution and the stress of modern life are resulting in diseases for which western medicine often does not offer the most effective treatment. Consequently an increasing number of people are becoming interested in alternative medicine and visiting Korea to receive Oriental medicine treatments. Seoul Jaseng Hospital of Oriental Medicine and Conmaul Gyeongju Oriental Hospital both offer medical tour packages for foreigners.

Jaseng Hospital of Oriental Medicine in the Gangnam-gu district of Seoul provides oriental medical services such as acupuncture. Its services are available throughout the year, but a prior phone reservation is required.

Conmaul Gyeongju Oriental Hospital offers a one-night-two-day health tour program in which visitors can receive both eastern and western health tests, oriental medical treatment, as well as enjoying the spas and sightseeing in Gyeongju. The hospital is located in a hanok, a Korean traditional house, and has a spacious garden. It doesn’t feel like a hospital, more like a tranquil retreat from the stresses of modern life. Visitors are required to make a reservation at least a week in advance.

Chorakdang in Ulju, Ulsan offers one-night-two-day or two-night-three-day health tour packages in which visitors can receive oriental medicine consulting and medical treatments using yellow mud as well as herbal baths. Visitors can relax in a small, traditional house made from yellow mud and also enjoy sightseeing in nearby Gyeongju.
