Cheonggyesan Mountain (청계산, 618 m) is blessed with beautiful geographical features, and pristine waters that flow through its valley that stretches for two kilometers, making a popular destination for visitors and tourists. It is one of the ‘Jwacheongnyong Ubaeko’ (left blue dragon and right white tiger) that guard Seoul, together with Gwanaksan Mountain. Cheonggyesan Mountain, which was also called Cheongnyongsan Mountain (청룡산) in the past, has two faces. The Cheonggyesan Mountain you see on your right when you pass by the Yangjae (양재) Interchange and enter the Gyeongbu Highway is a smooth mountain with small rock cropping out. However, the area surrounding Manggyeongdae (망경대, huge boulder), the summit of Cheonggyesan Mountain, which can be seen from the main entrance to the Seoul Grand Park in Gwacheon, is covered with rocks, making for an impressive sight. But, there is a government facility at Manggyeongdae making the summit off limits to the general public. Guksabong Peak (538 m) and another peak (545 m) are connected through a mountain path. ※ Cheonggyesan Mountain is located across the areas of four cities. |
