| Introduction | ||||||||
| Opened in August 2006, the Chuncheon Makguksu Museum is all about makguksu, a major local dish of Chuncheon. Makguksu is buckwheat noodle served in cold kimchi broth. The museum has a buckwheat exhibition hall and a makguksu experience hall. The buckwheat exhibition hall has on display materials and information on the origin and distribution of buckwheat, its history, and related foods. Visitors can get a glimpse of the variety of makguksu noodle throughout its development over time. For a fee of 4,000 won (3,000 won for groups of over 30), the makguksu experience hall operates hands-on programs: participants can learn how to make makguksu noodle from start to finish and taste it afterwards. The program runs for about 40 to 50 minutes. If interested, visitors are advised to make a reservation by phone at least two hours in advance. Reservations are not accepted on weekends due to the sharp increase in visitors. |
