Introduction
Daeheungsa Temple is located within Duryunsan Provincial Park. It was originially constructed by the Shilla Monk, Adohwasang, in the 14th year of King Muryeong’s reign during the Baekje Dynasty, and it was constantly remodeled thereafter. Buddhist priest, Seonsa, wished that Daeheungsa Temple be a peaceful and holy place and symbolically he requested to his disciples, Samyeongdang Yujeong and Nyemukdang Cheoyeong, to leave his Buddhist costume and rice bowl within the temple. The temple prospered afterwards and produced 13 Daejongsa and 13 Daegangsa Buddhist priests. The name, Daeheungsa, was recovered in 1993 after it had been named Daedunsa during the invasion of Japan.
