| Jeongdongjin Beach was named so because it is a port located by the sea directly east of Hanyang’s Gwanghwamun from the Joseon Dynasty. It is a small fishing village with a population of 1,021 people. There are 310 households, but the area doesn't boast any motels nor cafes. Jeongdongjin Train Station is in the Guinness book of world records as the train station located closest to the sea, which is why the first thing you’ll see when you get off the train is the sea and a pine tree. In the nearby hills there is the Jeongdongjin Maritime Park, from where you can get a fine view of the Jeongdongjin Beach with its 1km of fine white sandy beach, Jeongdongjin Station, seaside road, and the East Sea. Opposite the station, to the right, inside the alley, there is a hiking trail of Mt. Goseongsan. You can climb up the wooden steps to the top to view the scenery of Jeongdongjin station and the village. Up here it's also a great vantage point to view the vast expanse of the blue sea. You can go to the outdoor sculpture park, hiking path and the observation platform, or enjoy a cup of tea at the Train Café or Beomseon Café.

| 1.From Gangneung Intercity Bus Terminal, take bus No. 109, 111, 112, 208, 209 bound for Jeongdongjin Station.
2.train : Get off at Gangneung station and change to a train for Jeongdongjin station. 3.Yangyang airport: Take bus No.111,112. Take intercity for Gangneung. Take bus bound for Susan. |
