|Yeosu Station is the southernmost railway station in Jeolla-do Province. It plays a significant role in regional transportation, as it marks the entry to Hallyeohaesang National Park and connects Yeosu National Industrial Complex, Gwangyang Steel Works, and neighboring Suncheon city. On October 1, 2011, the station name was changed to Yeosu EXPO Station with the launch of the new KTX (high-speed) railway line connecting Seoul and Yeosu. The shape of the newly constructed station building is based on the head of a ship sailing out to sea, in accordance with the Yeosu World Expo theme, "The Living Ocean and Coast.” The station is connected to the Yeosu World Expo Square and has a large plaza used as a meeting and events space.|
