Jinyangho Park (진양호 공원 (진양호 전망대, 동물원))
A park located nearby the manmade Jinyangho Lake, it consists of a zoo and a three-story observatory. The observatory offers an unobstructed view of the lake and its surroundings, along with Jirisan and Waryongsan Mountains in the backdrop. The view is astounding during sunset.
Somangjinsan Lantern Theme Park (소망진산 유등테마공원)
A park themed on lanterns, it focuses on portraying the beauty of the azure Namgang River by day and fabulous illuminating lanterns by night. You can get to know more about the history of lanterns and observe diverse lantern artworks at the Jinju Namgang Yudeung Exhibition Hall.
Jinjuseong Fortress (진주성)
The fierce battle site where a mere force of 3,800 men defeated an army of almost 20,000 men. Walk along the fortress wall to enjoy a scenic nightscape guided by night lights. Here, you can find Chokseongnu Pavilion, which made the list of CNN’s “50 beautiful places to visit in South Korea.”
Gangju Pond (강주연못)
A place where one can immerse in the beauty of nature in a tranquil and calm atmosphere, this pond sets an ideal example of a traditional Korean garden. The pond serves as a home to diverse aquatic plants and flowers, presenting a different charm with the change of seasons. In spring, the cherry blossoms create a beautiful scenery while in summer, water lilies fill the lake.
Jinju Namgang Yudeung Festival
The Jinju Namgang Yudeung Festival takes place every October in Jinju. The festival began as a way to remember the Battle of Jinjuseong Fortress during the Imjin War and the victorious feat won by floating night lanterns on the Namgang River to interrupt the outside invaders. As the theme involves night lanterns, most of the festival’s major events take place at night including the lantern floating event that beautifully lights up the Namgang River and Jinjuseong Fortress.
