A Place of Healing Deep in the Woods

After experiencing a health healing program that focuses on raising the “heat” of your body, the warmth of the village will warm your heart. The main places of healing and therapy are the sauna and the Korean medicine clinic. All focused on raising the body temperature to activate circulation in the body and increase immunity. As the saying goes, “Life and death consists in removing the cold in the body and revitalizing the warmth”, the warm time spent in the village brightens the complexion and refreshes the body.

The Power of Sauna

Andeok Village has been operating various experience programs under the concept of a health healing experience village for the first time in Korea since 2009. In addition, a local steam room was opened in the village, and an oriental clinic was opened in the village medical insurance foundation. Thanks to a variety of attractive facilities such as a health healing experience using village resources, a steam room, Yochodang, and a well-being restaurant, more than 60,000 visitors a year visit. The steam room is divided into a high- temperature room (70~80℃) and a low-temperature room (50℃) in the traditional way of applying heat when burning oak wood. As you enter the high-temperature steam room, you will be overwhelmed by the heat on your face. It feels like pricking each pore with a needle, but you'll get used to it soon, so hold on. Sauna has an interesting architectural style. The main ingredient, loess, was mixed with 10 medicinal herbs such as elm bark, pine root, cheongung, and angelicae and used in decoction. The far-infrared rays emitted by loess at high temperatures contain growth rays that are beneficial to the human body. The herbal extract blended with loess further enhances the body's metabolism activation of far-infrared rays and growth rays and the effect of excreting waste products.

Korean Traditional Medicine Never Pulls Its Punches

Hippocrates said, “Surgery can cure diseases that cannot be cured by medicine, fever that cannot be cured by surgery, and diseases that cannot be cured by heat cannot be cured forever.” The importance of body temperature cannot be emphasized enough. Studies have shown that immunity increases fivefold when body temperature rises by 1°C. This means that the lower the body temperature, the higher the risk of being exposed to cancer and various adult diseases. In recent years, there is a trend to apply hyperthermia to cancer treatment and prevention. The representative thermal therapy that can be experienced at Andeok Village Oriental Clinic is Wang Mugwort Moxibustion.

Mugwort, which is warm in nature, discharges cold air from the body, strengthening the functions of the stomach, liver, and kidneys and boosting immunity. It is particularly effective in warming the uterus of women. Wang Mugwort Moxibustion Therapy uses the heat of mugwort moxa to energize the body and prevent diseases.
