[Korea] Korea-Singapore VTL Policy to be Replaced with Simplified Travel Procedures

The Korea-Singapore vaccine travel lane (VTL) policy will be canceled and travel to and from the two countries will be simplified. The Korea-Singapore VTL policy allowed fully vaccinated COVID-19 visitors to travel between the two countries on designated flights. The policy took effect on November 15, 2021 to reinforce COVID-19 safety and reduce overseas movement.

Singapore canceled VTL on April 1 and Korea will cancel on May 1, 2022. According to the VTL policy, travelers could only use designated flights to travel between the two countries. With the policy removed, travelers can now use any flight to travel between Korea and Singapore.

The process of entering and departing each country was simplified starting April 1, 2022. For Koreans entering Singapore, COVID-19 vaccinated travelers do not need to prepare a separate application of entrance. For Singaporeans entering Korea, fully vaccinated travelers can use the quarantine information pre-entry system (Q-code) to receive quick quarantine inspections upon arrival. In both countries, the obligation to purchase travel insurance has been lifted. However, if travelers are diagnosed with COVID-19, they will have to pay for medical expenses.

Travelers entering Korea can be exempt from quarantine after fulfilling specific requirements. Short-term visitors entering Singapore from Korea will follow the Vaccinated Travel Framework (VTF). Quarantine can be exempted by preparing a COVID-19 vaccination certificate and a negative COVID-19 PCR Test result, completing the SG entry card and installing the application (TraceTogether). Travelers who have not completed their COVID-19 vaccinations cannot enter Singapore. Short-term visitors entering Korea from Singapore will need to prepare a COVID-19 vaccination certificate, a negative COVID-19 PCR Test result, K-ETA (or visa), and enter their information on the application (Q-code). Also, a negative COVID-19 PCR Test result on the first day of arrival and a RAT test on the sixth or seventh day will grant quarantine exemption.
