Gwangju

Picture of Gyeonggi-do
  • As the economic and educational center of the southwestern area for centuries, Gwangju has long been regarded for its rich culture and arts. The emerging importance of Korea's western coastline has triggered large-scale urban development projects that include the construction of the Gwangju hi-tech industrial complex, the transformation of Gwangju into a production center, and improvements in housing and leisure facilities.

  • Gwangju is located in a basin with Mt. Mudeung, Mt. Yangnim, Mt. Seongeo and Jangwonbong Peak located to the east. The west side of the city, which is connected to the Jeolla Plains, is relatively level with low hills. Gwangjucheon Stream, originating in the valleys of Mt. Mudeung, runs through the city to the northwest and merges with the Geukrak River and Seokgok Stream before following into the Yeongsan River.

  • Gwangju is the prime convention spot in Korea's southwestern region and boasts state-of-the-art facilities to suit any needs. In 2007, the Korean Government designated Gwangju as one of six international convention cities in Korea.
The biggest strength of Gwangju as a MICE site is its celebrated and famous Korean cuisine, exuberant cultural and artistic resources, and colorful tourism sites.

  • Gwangju has been the economic and educational center of southwestern Korea for the past few centurise. Moreover, the emerging importance of Korea's western coastline has triggered large-scale urban development projects that include construction of the high-tech Gwangju Industrial Complex, the transformation of Gwangju into a production center, and improvements in housing and leisure facilities.
