Affairs announced, on December 5, that it had finalized its decision to create
a world-premium mudflat ecological district in Gochang, Jeollabuk-do, and a
development promotion district in a comprehensive development zone in Andong
and Yeongju, Gyeogsangbuk-do, at a National Land Policy Regional Development
Committee meeting. Home
to Lamsar wetland, Korea’ largest mudflats (45.5 ㎢), Gochang has a mudflat ecological learning center that lures over
100,000 visitors from across the nation all year round. The
Gochang premium mudflat ecological district development zone will be created on
a lot covering 870,955 ㎡ near Haeri-myeon
and Simwon-myeon in Gochang-gun and equipped with observatory trails, rest
areas and various other facilities. The Ministry of Land, Transport and
Maritime Affairs plans to complete the development project by 2016 by injecting
KRW 23.3 billion. The development promotion
district in a comprehensive development zone in Andong and Yeongjuin, Gyeongsangbuk-do,
will be developed into a cultural tourist complex. The Ministry
of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs plans to establish the “World Confucian
and Literati Cultural Park” on a lot covering an area of 326,282-㎡, near
Dosan-myeon, Andong, by investing KRW 169.1 billion in total. When completed in
2015, the park will house the Confucian Cultural Convention Center and the
Confucian Culture Museum as well as other cultural facilities. In
addition, the Ministry plans to build the “Korean Cultural Theme Park (Andong
Zone),” on a lot (518,500 ㎡) near the Literati Culture Park, by investing KRW 120.3 billion,
including private capital worth KRW 25.2 billion, by 2016. When completed, the
theme park will be equipped with a hanok (traditional Korean-style house)
village and a traditional Korean performance hall, among others. Yeongju
will also house a Korean cultural theme park (Yeongju District) in the
Sunheung-myeon and Dansan-myeon areas (960,974 ㎡). The park will be completed in 2015 and will
house a Korean cultural center and a horseback martial art performance
hall. The
Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs expects the development
projects will create production inducement effects worth KRW 754 billion and
6,733 jobs in total. |
