Dongpirang Village, named for its location on the eastern cliff (“dong” means east in Korean), is well-known for its mural paintings. Visitors can look out over Gangguan Port and take photos among the many alleyways that make up the neighborhood, each decorated in colorful murals. The village was once on the verge of being demolished. However, a local community and the residents of Tongyeong decided to paint murals on the walls of this village and it soon attracted tourists from all over the country. Since then, the village has transformed into a mural village, as well as a must-go attraction of Tongyeong. The village still serves as a home to local residents so visitors are reminded to be respectful when touring the area.
Furthermore, there are several pretty and cozy cafes hidden away within Dongpirang Village. After walking around and exploring the village, take a short rest at any of the interesting cafes that you may pass by!
After exploring Dongpirang Village in the morning, head over to Tongyeong Jungang Market for lunch. It is located near the village and a great way to concurrently experience both delicious food and a traditional local market atmosphere. The simple combination of small, bite-sized gimbap with ojingeo muchim (spicy squid salad) and radish kimchi that make up Chungmu gimbap is incredibly addictive. Another representative must-eat street food found in Jungang Market is the famous Tongyeong honey bread. A variety of fillings are available to choose from, including the classic red bean, sweet potato, cream cheese, citron and more. Besides these snacks, Tongyeong is also popular for its meongge (sea pineapple) bibimbap, where sea pineapple is added into the bowl of bibimbap. Diners can put in the amount of chogochujang (red pepper paste with vinegar) they would like, but to really enjoy the taste of the sea pineapple, it is best eaten plain.
The Hallyeosudo Viewing Ropeway brings visitors near the peak of Mireuksan Mountain, with a distance of about 1,975 meters, making it the longest cable car for touring in the nation. As the cable car travels along the mountain, passengers may feel as if they are on a thrill ride at an amusement park. Once you get off the cable car, you can get a panoramic view of Hallyeohaesang National Park, the highlight of the southern sea. For a more picturesque vista, walk for approximately 15 minutes up the stairs to the summit.

Jangsado Sea Park, located on Jangsado Island, is famous for its beautiful camellia flowers that bloom in winter, and hydrangea flowers that bloom in summer. Efforts were taken to change as little as possible in order to preserve the natural beauty of the marine park, thus sculptures and artwork can be found carefully laid out all throughout the park. There is also an outdoor performance theater that holds concerts for visitors to enjoy. It will take approximately 2 hours to explore the entire island, and the ferry schedule is matched correspondingly.
Upon arriving at Jangsado Island, free information maps are available in close proximity to the ferry dock. The map indicates tourist attractions in a logical order, a great guidance to kick-start your journey around the island.
Jangsado Bonsai Branch School, one of the attractions in the course, was a filming location of the popular Korean drama “My Love from the Star (2013).” Walk further to find a rainbow bridge, which was a filming location of the K-drama “Uncontrollably Fond (2016).” Besides being a popular filming location for both movies and dramas, it is also a highly sought out place among young couples who wish to spend special moments together such as taking wedding photos.
As the entrance and exit from Jangsado Island are two separate docks, all visitors must note that the dock where you first arrived will not have ferries leaving the island. Also, due to the presence of several ferry operators in Jangsado Island, visitors are strongly advised to remember the name of their ferry as they must take the same ferry back. In order to help visitors remember their ferry names, tickets are distributed upon boarding the ferry. Oedo-Botania is a marine botanical garden, famous for its beautiful view of the crystal blue south sea and surrounding landscape. The island was bought privately in the late 1960s by a couple and has now turned into a famous tourist attraction. Along the walking trail of about 1.3 kilometers, various rare plant species classified by themes can be found. A representative attraction of the island is the Venus Garden, decorated with sculptures throughout the garden. Overall, the island has a romantic atmosphere, making it a popular destination among traveling couples. At the observatory, visitors can also enjoy coffee or a snack with a view of the clear blue waters surrounding Geoje Haegeumgang Island.
When purchasing tickets bound for Oedo, you may also apply for a tour around Haegeumgang Island. Located on the southeast side of Geoje, the name of the island originates from its similarity to Geumgangsan Mountain in Gangwon-do. Known as an island of rocks, it is also famous for Sipjadonggul Cave, Sajabawi Rock, Chotdaebawi Rock and other magnificent views.

As the distance to Oedo Island varies by dock, duration and fees differ slightly from one another. For this particular course, Dojangpo Dock is most convenient for traveling to Oedo Island. According to Korean ferry regulations, a form has to be filled out and presented during the purchase of a ferry and admission ticket. Upon boarding, all passengers must present the filled out form and a type of identification, such as a passport. A boarding ticket is issued to help visitors to remember their ferry when leaving the island. Thus, all passengers are expected to keep the ticket and present it to the ferry staff when boarding.
Instead of sand, Hakdong Mongdol Beachhas small pebbles, also known as mongdol, and it is the largest beach in the nation that is covered by these pebbles. The wild camellia forest, which blooms along the seashore around mid February, creates a beautiful landscape. There are also several water leisure activities, restaurants and even accommodation facilities in the area. More than anything, the feeling of walking on these pebbles is soothing and the sound of the waves is refreshing.
