Incheon International Airport provides medical tourism services for international tourists or passengers with a layover of four or more hours by connecting them with medical care services in Korea quickly and conveniently. The services offer the advantage of receiving quick and easy medical diagnoses and treatment at a number of hospitals that are only about 5 to 30 minutes away from the airport. The other advantage is that visitors can get quality medical treatment and care at more affordable prices than many other countries. Visitors can even make reservations prior to arriving in Korea for a quicker turnaround or arrange a same-day walk-in consultation by calling upon arrival.

Various medical care related leaflets are available in English, Japanese, Chinese, Russian, and other foreign languages at the information center. Visitors can also get information from the English-speaking staff.

Introduction of In-transit Medical Tourism Hospitals in Incheon

Inha International Medical Center

Only about a five-minute drive from Incheon International Airport, the Inha International Medical Center provides convenient and quick medical service to foreign travelers and in-transit passengers.

From gates 3 or 12 on the third floor of the Incheon International Airport, free shuttle buses are available that pass hotels and the freight centers as well. The bus only takes about five minutes to the International Business Center Station (you will see a building that says E-mart), which is near the Inha International Medical Center. From August 1, 2014, the bus will stop right in front of the hospital, making it even easier for visitors to get there.

The services available at the hospital include a health examination, plastic surgery, skin care and treatment, dental care, Eastern medicine, and spa treatments. Given the time constraints that in-transit passengers have, the health examination center provides services in various formats, including a simple one-hour health examination program and the more extensive VIP health check that takes more than four hours. The plastic surgery department offers simple treatments like botox to the more complicated ones like ultherapy, fat grafting, and eye and nose jobs. The dermatology department offers clinical care for whitening, wrinkles, or pimple treatment. The Eastern Medicine Department offers a variety of reinvigorating programs to help patients recover from their travel fatigue, as well as beauty treatment therapies like lifting acupuncture and smile acupuncture. Unlike other hospitals, the Inha International Medical Center is equipped with spa facilities to help transit passengers and their families recover and rejuvenate from the tension and exhaustion that comes from long hours of flying.

For the convenience of international tourists, the hospital is manned by medical care coordinators who can speak English, Chinese, or Russian. Also, documents such as diagnosis results are also available in a number of languages. To guarantee patients' privacy, all the departments and services (except the Eastern medicine) provide “visiting medical services” where a specialist visits the patient in a private room.

Jian Health Promotion Center

Situated in Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, the Jian Health Promotion Center is about a thirty minute drive by car from Incheon International Airport, but the center offers pick-up services for those who have a reservation. For medical check-ups, guests will change clothes and fill out a medical chart with the help of a coordinator. Then, they will begin to take the medical examination, which can be custom-tailored based on the illness, age, and gender. Visitors can also stay one night to get a more detailed medical check-up, which includes a wider range of examinations.

The medical check-up consists of a simple blood pressure test, body composition examination, blood sampling, hearing test, eyesight test, and body fat examination. Through consultation, patients may select a customized medical check-up package to add intraocular pressure check, thyroid ultrasound, chest X-ray, bone density examination, or a CT scan.

The most notable feature of the hospital is the CT examination room. CT examination rooms in most hospitals are dark, causing concerns for patients who are claustrophobic. Here, the CT room has wide windows with an outside view, giving patients a comfortable atmosphere to take their CT examination in.

For a more peaceful and relaxed medical check-up, patients may book the VIP Room. After the medical check-up, the hospital serves tea and porridge to help patients soothe their empty stomach.
