|

Out of all of the festivals in Korea, the Boryeong Mud Festival attracts the most international visitors every year. Last year it was recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism as one of the best festivals in Korea. This year the festival will run for nine days (July 11th – July 19th) at Boryeong City’s Daecheon Beach in Chungcheongnam-do Province. Boryeong’s mud flats have a high concentration of Germanium and a host of other minerals that are beneficial for the skin. During the festival, many fun activities are organized such as mud slides, mud wrestling, and mud massages, enabling visitors to become covered from head-to-toe in this “healthy” mud. With festivities running day and night, the Boryeong Mud Party is a fun-packed beach party that’s sure to be a highlight of your summer. Every year, the festival is visited by around 80,000 international travelers. Make sure you don’t miss out! |

Activity Programs
|
From fun and exciting mud-themed activities, to various forms of mud beauty therapy, there are always plenty of programs to choose from. One of the most popular programs during the festival is the mud massage at the Mud Skincare Center. (International visitors can receive a 30% discount)
At the entrance of Citizens Tower Square, a 25 meter-long mud rain tunnel will be set up. In this tunnel, mud rain falls, so you can take a mud shower. You can also experience a 5-meter-high Mud Adventure Cascade and a Mud Pool Slide free of charge. There are many exciting games that Korean and international visitors can enjoy together. In one game participants have to be the first to get the flag from on top of the mud hill, and in another they must clang a mud bell faster than the other competitors.
On the roads circling the beach, more physically challenging programs are held. Visitors can ski down tidal flats or even participate in a rigorous stimulation of a military training exercise, which takes place over a 10km-long obstacle course (scheduled at 16:00, on July 18). Those of you wanting to take a piece of the festival home with you, can make a ceramic item or a festival character out of mud at the event booths, which only costs 3000 won - 8000 won. There is also a photo zone where you can take pictures with a mud-covered mannequin.
