As both a hip shopping center and tourist center in Seoul,
Myeongdong offers numerous accommodation facilities ranging from the deluxe Sejong Hotel and the
Pacific Hotel to more moderate priced guesthouses and budget motels. In this edition, we went to look
at a few popular facilities in the area such as Myeongdong’s Guest House, Seoul Tower Ville, and
Namsan Guest House. Let’s take a look at where the best and most affordable accommodations are in
Myeongdong, and then you’ll be on your way to an exciting trip in Korea.

☞ Seoul Youth Hostel
Re-opened in February 2006, Seoul Youth Hostel is located
on the slopes of Mt. Namsan, offering spectacular views of Seoul and a great walkway from the hostel to
the top of Mt. Namsan. Visitors can also enjoy rock climbing, mountain biking, and other types of
leisure sports.
The hostel offers 50 rooms. Rates may be slightly higher
than at other youth hostels and taking a taxi or car is easier than public transportation. However, the
location on a mountain slope in the center of Seoul is second to none compared to other deluxe hotels
in the city. A visit is definitely worthwhile.

☞ Myeongdong Guest House
One of the greatest advantages of Myeongdong Guest House is
the owner, who will speak to you in any one of several languages. Having worked in Tokyo at a Korean
bank for 30 years, he speaks fluent Japanese as well as English and some Chinese, and is happy to offer
information and helpful travel tips.
Clean facilities and convenient transportation also make this a
great choice for travelers.

☞ Namsan Guest House
Located on Mt. Namsan, Namsan Guest House is popular for
its clean and attractive accommodations. One of the biggest advantages for travelers is the free
shuttle service to Namdaemun or Dongdaemun markets, and the royal palaces, available upon request any
time of the day from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The house also offers a paid shuttle bus service to and from
Incheon International Airport (60,000 won) and Gimpo Airport (30,000 won).

☞ Seoul Tower Ville
Proud of its clean facilities and huge windows, which
overlook downtown Seoul, Seoul Tower Ville offers rooms furnished with private baths and a kitchen with
utensils. If you bring a computer, there is free Internet access in each room.
Meals are not provided,
but you can visit the owner’s restaurant in Myeongdong for an affordable Korean price. The restaurant
also offers Korean cooking lessons as well as kimchi making class.
